On Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 7 pm, local author Newton Frohlich will discuss his recent award-winning book, The Shakespeare Mask, in the Woodbury Room at the Jones Library.
The Shakespeare Mask is a historical novel that explores the life of Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford. The book is a meticulously researched exploration of Tudor England that asks a compelling question: What if the author of the greatest works ever written in the English language wasn’t who we think he was? This book recently was awarded the IPBA Benjamin Franklin Gold Medal for Historical Novels.
Newton Frohlich is the award-winning author of The Shakespeare Mask: A Novel; 1492: A Novel of Christopher Columbus, the Spanish Inquisition, and a World at the Turning Point (St. Martin’s Press); and the nonfiction Making the Best of It: A Common-Sense Guide to Negotiating a Divorce (Harper & Row). He spent fifteen years researching and traveling for The Shakespeare Mask and is a member of the Shakespeare Oxford Society and the De Vere Society.
