COFFEE & DESSERT WITH THE PRINCIPAL


Coffee & Dessert with the Principal
Please join us for a special evening Coffee with a Principal on March 5th, 7:00 - 8:30pm.  The social time will be followed by a brief PGO meeting at which we will discuss proposals from the PGO executive committee to increase our support of the Fort River Library as well as upcoming events including Cultural Heritage Night, Field Day and Staff Appreciation.

Por favor únase a nosotros para una especial  tarde de café  con la directora el 5 de marzo,  de las 7:00 a las  8:30 pm. El tiempo social será seguida por una breve reunión PGO en la que vamos a discutir las propuestas del comité ejecutivo PGO para aumentar nuestro apoyo a la Biblioteca de Fort River, así como los próximos eventos incluyendo la Noche del Patrimonio Cultural, Día de Campo y de Apreciación al Personal.



Driver Family Fund

Last weekend, Fort River teacher Monica Bhowmik and her family lost their home to fire.  Fortunately, they were not home at the time and all are safe.  A fund has been set up to help the family.  Donations can be brought or mailed to Florence Savings Bank, 385 College Street Amherst MA 01002 or any Florence Savings Bank branch, checks should be made out to "Driver Family Fund".  Gift cards are also welcomed, especially Cummington Supply and Target.

PROPOSED FY-2014 SCHOOL BUDGET


The impacts of the proposed FY2014 budget were outlined at the Feb 5th School Committee Meeting.  To reduce $656K from the budget, the proposal includes cutting 1 classroom teacher from Wildwood, and cutting the following staff across the district: 0.5 Art, 0.4 Music, 0.3 PE, 1.5 Spanish, 1 ELA Curriculum Leader, 9 Paraprofessionals, 1 Educational Team Leader, 1 Guidance Counselor, 1 Clerical and ADDING 1 Steps to Success Liason to implement an achievement program for income-eligible families.  See details of the presentation at the link below.  


If you have any input or suggestions, please email the Amherst School Committee at schoolcommittee@arps.org before the next School Committee Meeting on February 26, when they will vote on the budget.

Los impactos de la propuesta del presupuesto FY2014 se esbozaron en la  reunión del Comité Escolar del 05 de  febrero . Para reducir el $ 656K del presupuesto, la propuesta incluye un corte de un salon de 1 maestro de Wildwood, y cortar el siguiente personal de todo el distrito: 0,5 Arte, Musica 0.4, 0.3 Educacion Fisica, español 1,5, 1 ELA Curriculum Leader  , 9 paraprofesionales , 1 Educational Team Leader , 1 Guia de Consejeria, 1  Clerical y la anadiendo  de 1 Paso para el Éxito de Enlace para implementar un programa de logros para familias de ingreso elegible. Grade 6 Parent/Guardian Math Meeting

You are invited to a conversation with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Rhonda Cohen, and the Math/Science Coordinator K-8, Dr. Ian Stith, to learn about where we are in the process regarding the 7th grade math program.  Given that the district is reviewing the 6-12 math program, we are especially interested in meeting with parents/guardians to learn more about their child's experiences in our current program and answer any questions you might have.

Regionalization - Public Forum Amherst CANCELED 2.13.13

The Regional School District Planning Board (RSDPB) public forum in Amherst scheduled for February 13, 2013 is canceled due to revised reported assessment figures.
