YOUTH SPEAK OUT – Teens of Color Talk About Their Experiences in our Schools

In this program, young people from our communities will share their experiences in local schools. We will also screen the PBS documentary A Class Divided, about “a third grade
teacher who divided her all-white class into blue-eyed and brown-eyed groups, and gavethem a daring lesson in discrimination.”

Participants will learn about ways that all students benefit when educators of color are
present in their classrooms and when their studies include Black, Indigenous, and Latino
history and culture. There will be time for questions & discussion. This program is suitable for educators and school administrators, parents and students, and the general public.

Saturday, September 12, 2015, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
