PGO, Social Media, and Community Events

The PGO is happy to promote non-PGO, non-school based events, classes, or activities that may interest our families. These days the easiest way to do so is on social media. 

If you do not follow the PGO on Facebook or Twitter please considering doing so. If you'd like the PGO to share information about your favorite youth sports team, theatre group, art or dance classes, etc., please consider posting these to our Facebook page or messaging our Communication team directly via social media. 

As always, non-school content is shared at the PGO Board's discretion. You can still email the PGO at ftriver@gmail.com or hit reply to any PGO emails that you receive. 

LSSE Spring Programs

Feeling Soup Creative Drama Group for Children with Becca Green-Van Horn

Date: April 13 - June 8th
Time: 3:45 to 5:00pm
Location: Bangs Community Center
Cost: $139, $8 Materials Fee. (20% discount available to qualifying youth). 

Children  will have a great time trying on new  and  different  roles  and  ways  of  being  together.   Using  developmentally  appropriate dramatic structures, a safe and encouraging space will be created to explore the world of feelings and imagination.    It will give this age that much needed space to release energy in positive ways that increase self esteem and creative  self expression.

Childrens Art Classes taught by Carolyn Toomey
Date: April-June
Time: 4:00pm to 5:50pm, 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Location: Bangs Community Center
Cost: Depending on session signed up for costs range from $99 to  $131. (20% discount available to qualifying youth).

There are five different sessions that vary in age group and artistic themes that hold a fun creative platform for children to express themselves through multiple art media.

Wildwood + Crocker Farm Vacation Camp

Date: April 19 - April 22
Time: 8:30am - 4:45pm
Location: Wildwood Elementary School
Cost: $205  (20% discount available to qualifying youth). 

During vacation in April friends from Wildwood and Crocker Farm Elementary Schoola can join each other and participate in fun activities and field trips before heading back to school. Vacation Camps will be run by After School staff Tuesday through Friday of Vacation Week.

Horseback Riding with April Hart

Date: March 17 - April 22 (Depending on Session)
Time: Earliest 9am, Latest 630pm (Depending on Session)
Location: Cedar Reach Farm, Hadley MA
Cost: Ranging from $174 to $249 depending on session. $80 Farm Fee.  (20% discount available to qualifying youth). 

Come and learn how to groom, saddle, and mount a horse! Develop the basic skills necessary to safely ride a horse. Available for ages 6-12, 8-13, and adults.

March 10 - 7PM  - Video -  "Conversations Across Differences" -  lessons from Ferguson and taking action against racism - at The Jones Library

March 21 - 12 Noon - Dedication of the Black Lives Matter banner on the Amherst Common

March 21 or 22 (TBA) - 7PM - Community Forum on Black Lives Matter - speakers will include Whitney Battle-Baptiste and young local BLM activists, followed by community discussion and Q&A.  Don't miss this key event in our community.  Location in downtown Amherst to be announced.

April 14 - 7PM - Film - "American Indian Comedy Slam: Goin' Native, No Reservations Needed" - with a panel of local Native people leading the discussion following - at The Jones Library.
