Amherst Leisure Services presents WinterFest Challenge Cup at the Mullins Center

February 5, 2018 – 6:30-8:00pm

with Skating Club of Amherst 50th Year Exhibition from 5:30-6:15pm

The WinterFest All-Stars face off against the Franklin County Sheriff's Department! Watch an action-packed game unfold on the ice between two local teams, each playing for a worthy cause. This is a free event but donations of any amount are appreciated. All proceeds will go to the charity foundation of the winning team. The teams will be playing for the following charities, respectively:

The Mission of Wounded Warrior Project®: Honoring and empowering Wounded Warriors, our vision is to foster the most successful, well adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

The Sergeant Jacob Garmalo Memorial Foundation: Sergeant Jacob Garmalo brought a caring and compassionate presence to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office that was valued by both staff and the men incarcerated there. His character was exemplary and commanded respect for himself and those around him. Always willing to listen, he worked closely with the men and fought against stigma and shame, spurned being judgmental, and worked to bring out the best in everyone. Jacob’s youthful energy, drive and motivation helped the men rise to the challenges of everyday life, and he was a beacon of hope, brightening the days of those around him. Jacob had a dream and vision to help individuals successfully recover from the hardships in life that led to their incarceration. Tragically, Jacob’s life ended in 2016 in a motorcycle accident at the young age of 21. The goal of this foundation is to continue his legacy and keep his vision alive.

Come out to support both teams on the ice this Monday night! And be sure to come an hour early to watch the Skating Club of Amherst perform a special routine in celebration of WinterFest and their 50 year anniversary!

LSSE’s WinterFest Amherst from February 3 to 10

WinterFest Amherst is the largest winter festival in Western Massachusetts, featuring over 40 events including music, food, sports, recreation and community activities. 

Among this year’s highlights are 10 events on the first day, including a Luminaria, sponsored by the Amherst BID, on the Town Common. Other highlights include the WinterFest Ice Hockey Challenge Cup, 5K Indoor Run, Men and Women’s Amateur Basketball, Food Demonstrations, Nature Hikes, Lectures and Discussions, Figure Skating, Winter Crafts for Kids, Painting for Children, Live Music, Winter Farmers’ Market, Movies and more. 

WinterFest concludes on February 10, with fireworks, beauty queens, and more at the Grand Finale at the Cherry Hill Golf Course.

Winterfest THIS Saturday, February 11 beginning at 1pm

The weather has cooperated just in time for the Annual Amherst Winterfest to be held THIS Saturday on February 11, 2017. Like previous years, the festival will be held at Cherry Hill Golf Course, 323 Montague Road.

The fun begins at 1 p.m. and ends after the 6 p.m. fireworks.

Families can enjoy the fiery competition at the chili contest, the annual cardboard classic sled race (at 4:15pm) with prizes for best design, the best in snow dog show, and many other fun events.

Get Ready for Winterfest 2017!

The Annual Amherst Winterfest will be held on Feb. 11, 2017. The festival will be held at Cherry Hill Golf Course, 323 Montague Road.

The festival begins at 1 p.m. and ends after the 6 p.m. fireworks.

There’s the annual cardboard classic sled race with prizes for best design, as well as the "Best in Snow" dog show.

Winterfest Postponed!! New Date: Saturday February 20

Due to extreme cold Winterfest was postponed! ❄️❄️❄️❄️

Time: 1:00pm-6:00pm
Location: Cherry Hill Golf Course
Cost: Admission is $5 Kids/Students, $8 Adults and $20 for a family of 3 or More. There is a free shuttle service from Mill River Park and the Mill District.

The event includes a food court, chili tasting contest cider donut eating contest, cheese tasting, fatbike demo and riding, baseball toss, mobile disc golf experience, dusk superpipe sledding hill, wagon rides from Muddy Brook, frosty fun kids carnival, family ice sculpture contest, UMass stage crew dance and clinic, golf contests, face painting, best in snow dog show, cardboard sled race, Zumba in the snow and entertainment from Jack Frost and the Rose Cheeks and Pineapple Dance’s Elektrik Boyz and Jam Dance.
