Volunteers Needed for 2017-2018 School Governance Council


The state-mandated Fort River School Governance Council reviews the annual budget for Fort River and helps prepare the School Improvement Plan. The School Governance Council is comprised of parent/guardians, teachers, community members, and Principal Chamberlain (chamberlaind@arps.org). A two year term commitment is optimal but not required.

Parents/guardians will be elected representatives at the Fort River Open House on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. If you are interested in serving on the School Governance Council, please fill out the nomination form and return it to the Fort River main office or email the requested information to rebecca.fortriver@gmail.com no later than September 30, 2017.   

Candidate information will be made ​​available to the Fort River community prior to the election at the Open House. 
Questions about serving on the School Governance Council or the election process can be directed to Principal Chamberlain.

A two year term commitment is optimal, and there are three parent/guardian vacancies this year.

Three (3) parent/guardian will be elected representatives at the Fort River Open House on Thursday, October 1, 2015. If you are interested in serving on the School Governance Council, please fill out the nomination form and return it to the Fort River main office or email the requested information to sarah.fortriver@gmail.com no later than Tuesday, September 29, 2015.

A two year term commitment is expected, and there is one parent/guardian vacancy available this fall.

A parent/guardian representative will be elected at the Fort River Open House on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. If you are interested in serving on the School Governance Council, please fill out the form and return it to the Fort River main office by Thursday, September 27, 2012. This information will be distributed to the Fort River community prior to the election at the Open House.

School Governance Council Election Results

Becky Michaels, Tammy Rahhal Schulkind, and Suzanne Schilling were recently elected to the Fort River School Governance Council. Each will serve a two year term, and they will join Sue Borden who is in her final year on the Council.

All parents and guardians in the school community are welcome to attend Council meetings. Watch for more information coming home soon about meeting times and dates.

If you did not have an opportunity during Open House to cast your vote for parent representation on the School Governance Council, ballots are available in the Main Office until 3pm TODAY (Friday). Election results will be released next week.

Final Call for School Council Elections

Members of the Fort River community interested in running for the Fort River School Governance Council should have submitted their statements by today, Friday, September 16, 2011.
Due to term expirations for current representatives, there are three seats open on the Fort River School Governance Council. The Council is a state-mandated elected body of parents, staff, and community representatives that help define the policies and procedures of the school. The Council works collaboratively with Principal Colley on matters such as the budget, staffing, and the school improvement plan. Meetings occur monthly, and the terms are two years in length. All candidates need to prepare a short statement (50 words or less) that will go home to all parents. Please look for the candidates' statements early next week in your child's backpack.

The election will be held at Open House on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.

Fort River School Governance Council: We Still Need Candidates

Parent Council is still seeking nominations for the School Governance Council.  Two seats are currently open for the Councill, which is a state mandated elected body of parents and staff that helps define the policies and procedures of the school.  It meets monthly to help develop the budget &  school improvement plan and to make recommendations to the Principal. 

If you are interested in running for one of the vacant seats (this is a 2 year commitment) please contact Sue Borden (FRPC.sborden@gmail.com).  All candidates will need to prepare a short (50 word or less) statement that will accompany a ballot that will go home to all parents in the next couple of weeks.
