Bravo!! Congrats to Band, Orchestra, and Chorus Students on Recent Concerts

Thanks to everyone who attended recent concerts held to celebrate the work of our students in Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. Guests were treated to lively shows from talented and hardworking Fort River students. Kudos to parents and guardians for supporting students with home practice.

A small but mighty group of 12 sixth grade Chorus students sang "Flashlight" and "Lean on Me" last weekend during the MLK Jr. Breakfast held annually at the ARMS. Special congrats to Fort River alumnus Kayara Hardnett-Barnes who was one of three recipients of the 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award honoring aspiring defenders of social justice.

5th/6th Grade Chorus Concert on January 16 at ARMS at 7pm

Fifth and Sixth Grade students have been learning about different winter holidays from around the world, and have also been hard at work on the songs for the winter concert. The concert is at 7 pm on January 16th in the Amherst Regional Middle School auditorium. If you are able to carpool students who may need a ride to the concert, or you need to coordinate transportation for your student, please let Ms. Krasner know!

Martin Luther King Jr. Events

FORT RIVER will represent the ARPS district at Amherst’s 34th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast this year.  Our sixth grade chorus, led by Ms. Krasner, has the opportunity to perform. This lovely event, held this year on Saturday, January 13 at 8:30 am in the ARMS Cafeteria, brings together our community to honor Dr. King and his messages of hope and perseverance. We hope you all can attend. 

Additionally, Fort River students and staff will celebrate the legacy of Dr. King on Friday, January 12 with a school wide assembly promoting kindness and caring for others. Families welcome to join - more details to come. 

Finally, there will be no school on Monday, January 15 in observation of MLK Jr.'s birthday.

Fort River Spring Chorus Concert on May 31 at 7pm at ARMS Auditorium

The Fort River Spring chorus concert will be held on Wednesday, May 31^st at 7 pm at the Amherst Middle School auditorium.  The chorus will include the 4^th, 5^th and 6^th grades!

A message from Ms. White:

Dear families of our Fort River fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, 

You are cordially invited to our Spring Concert which will feature fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. Xinef Afraim will guest conduct several songs that he has taught our chorus. We will also feature Nigerian dance and drumming taught by Tashina Bowman and Donovan Riley Robinson. And we will be joined by parent and master drummer, Champion Bakari. It promises to be a fabulous evening of music! 

Please have your student arrive by 6:45pm that evening. Concert attire for students: white blouse, dark slacks or skirts.

5th & 6th grade chorus concert

The fifth and sixth grade choruses will present a winter choral concert on Thursday evening, January 19^th, at 7 pm in the Amherst Middle School auditorium. Parents of chorus students: please have your child report to the auditorium by 6:40 that night to warm up. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm. Concert attire for boys includes white shirts or sweaters and dark slacks. Girls should wear a white blouses or sweaters and dark skirts or slacks.

If your child is unable to participate in this event, it is important that you send an note in advance. If you are unable to attend the evening concert, we will also be presenting a daytime performance for the school in Fort River cafeteria #1 on Wednesday, January 18^th at 10:15 am.

Chorus Concert Rescheduled

Dear family members of Fort River Chorus students,

I am pleased to announce that we have new dates for our winter choral concert. The evening concert will take place at 7 pm on Thursday, February 10th, in the Amherst Middle School auditorium. Student singers should arrive by 6:40 to take their places on the stage and warm up. As always, concert attire is white shirts and dark slacks for boys, dark skirts for girls. We will hold our daytime concert for Fort River on Wednesday, February 9th, at 10:30 am, in the Fort River gym. Thank you for your patience with our need to reschedule the concert date.
