ARPS Warm Winter Coat and Clothing Share

To help everyone stay warm this winter, the Amherst school parent & guardian organizations (PGOs) are collecting winter coats & other outerwear for students (preK through 12th grade) & families.

We are seeking donations of clean, gently-used winter outerwear in ALL sizes (especially student sizes)

* jackets * gloves/mittens *scarves * snowsuits

Collection: Now through December 1st in the lobby
Distribution: Through the ARPS Family Center, November 20th into December

Collection: Now until November 13th, in the lobby & at the preschool entrance
Distribution: November 14th, November 15th, November 16th

FORT RIVER ELEMENTARY 70 South East Street, 413-362-1200
Collection: Now until November 16th, in the lobby
Distribution: November 17th through November 29th (school days only)

WILDWOOD ELEMENTARY 71 Strong Street, 413-362-1400
Collection: Now until November 17th in the lobby

MANY THANKS for your donations. Thank you too to the businesses and community partners who are helping with this effort. Any winter clothing that is not given out at the schools will be donated to the Amherst Survival Center.

For Parents of ARHS Athletes: Amherst Hurricane Boosters Meeting on January 12

The Amherst Hurricane Boosters is an independent group of parents, coaches and other supporters of Middle and High School sports in Amherst. We raise funds to: ensure the continued existence of sports programs, increase participation in athletics, ensure a positive experience for participants, and promote achievement in sports. We work closely with the Athletic Department, and with coaches and teams.

You are invited to attend a informational meeting on Thursday, January 12th @ 6 p.m. in the ARHS Cafe.

Follow the Hurricanes through New MIAA Features

Wondering when your favorite ARHS Team is competing or how they are doing this season?  There is a great feature offered through the MIAA website that will help keep you in the loop by sending you email alerts for your favorite team(s)!!

To get started, go to the MIAA website, look for the light blue bar, select the team(s) you’d like to receive notifications on. In that same area, select the pencil “Schedule Notification Options.” From there, follow the prompts. You can change your selections at any time. There is also a convenient MIAA App for your smart phone. Go Canes!

Attention ARHS Families! Help Needed

2016 ARHS Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Help needed: On Tuesday, June 21st (Finals Make Up Day) ARHS parents and guardians will thank the entire staff with a scrumptious lunch. Here are several ways you can help:

  1. Bring a dessert or side/salad for 8-10 people
  2. Volunteer to help set up, serve, and clean up
  3. Make a monetary donation to help cover the cost of the deli spread, drinks and all the extras

Please attach a list of ingredients and your (or student’s) name to your dish; staff often ask what’s in, or who made, particular dishes. Consider bringing something gluten-free or vegan or nut-free. You can drop off your dish that morning between 7:30 and 11:00 a.m. Bring food donations in disposable containers with serving utensils (if needed) and label anything you want back.  Items may be claimed in the office until Friday, June 24.
