Volunteers and Donations Needed for 6th Grade Graduation Events

Dear 6th Grade Parents and Guardians:

It’s hard to believe but our Fort River Class of 2018 will soon be on their way to the middle school.  But, before they can do that, we have some end of the year festivities to organize to celebrate our students.

Mark your calendar for the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 20th, at 1:00pm.  The ceremony will take place in the gym and be followed by a reception in the cafeteria.  In the evening the students will have their dance which is organized by the teachers.  More information will be coming home closer to the date.

We want to thank those of you who have already volunteered to help with graduation.  We know that this is a busy time of year but we need the help of as many parents and guardians as possible to make this a successful event.  Please take a look at the sign up for various committees to see what will fit with your schedule: http://frpc.pleasebringit.com/public/Sd7LNmcmJrQ

Please sign-up below to help decorate the gym and cafeteria for graduation and/or to bring food to the graduation reception.  The 5th grade families will be managing the reception so that we can enjoy this special time with our kids.

5TH Grade Families - Your help is Needed!

5th Grade Families!  Your Help is NEEDED!

Every year 5th grade parents help out for an hour or two during 6th Grade Graduation (Wednesday, June 20). This allows the families of 6th graders to enjoy the graduation ceremony and reception. There are only a few parents signed up and a few more are really needed! Duties are: helping set up in the cafeteria; helping serve cake; and keeping food tables neat. There are two time-slots; 1-2:30 or 2:00-3:30. Thanks for considering this and know that next year's 5th grade parents will help out with your students graduation!

Graduation Food Contributions

6th grade parents - there are still a few food items needed for the graduation celebration. Please check your classroom list.

Please consider making a contribution in any amount in your students name. Your generosity will ensure that this class is able to purchase four new beautiful planters with a plaque acknowledging the graduating class of 2018. This is a wonderful way for our children to leave their mark and brighten the entrance to Fort River School.

Checks should be made out to Fort River PGO with 6th grade gift in the subject line. Donations may be left in the PGO mailbox in the main office or sent to school with your child to give to their teacher. The deadline for donations has been extended to June 15th.

Questions? Contact Eileen Marasco at e.marasco@comcast.net or Shari Abbott at shariabbott@mac.com.

Are you counting down yet? It’s hard to believe that graduation is a little more than a month away!

We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes, and now we’ll be moving fast and furiously to get everything in place. We would like every family to be involved, so we’re writing now to let you know what’s coming up.

Attention 6th Grade Parents: Graduation Volunteers Needed!

                                                                                                  1/27/11
Dear 6th Grade Parents/Guardians;
It’s hard to believe it, but the Fort River Class of 2011(!) will soon be on their way to middle school!

We (Steve Brown and Lisa Oram – parents of Isabel Oram-Brown) have agreed to be the graduation coordinators, and we want to make it a special time for all our kids. We need your help, and we hope all 6th grade families will be involved in some way. We have detailed information from the parents, who have done this in the past, and the more people who help out, the easier and more fun it will be for all of us.

We will need volunteers to help out in the following areas:

  • Slide Show: take and/or find photos, work on presentation. Need 1 – 2 people per class.
  • Class Gift: work with the school administration and the kids to decide on gift, keep track of money, purchase/order gift, present gift at graduation. Need 1 – 3 people.
  • Decorations: balloons, flowers, tablecloths, etc - make the gym and cafeteria look festive; work with school maintenance staff and donation committee; help the kids make memory boards. Need 10 – 15 people.
  • Food: coordinate donations from parents and community, find 5th grade parents to staff reception. Need 1 person/class
  • Community donations: solicit help from local businesses i.e. flowers, cake, helium, etc. We have sample letters and lists of previous year’s donations. Need 2 – 4 people.
  • Program/Invitations: design, print, and distribute. Need 2 – 3 people.
Please sign up by clicking on this link:  Online Sign-Up for Graduation Volunteers or, return the paper copy of this letter which came home in the backpacks to your child’s teacher by Friday, February 4. The link to the sign-up sheet is also posted in the upper right-hand corner of this webpage.
