Fort River School Building Committee Announces Design Firm Selection

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fort River School Building Committee Announces Design Firm Selection

For more information, contact:
Jonathan Salvon, Fort River School Building Committee, Chair
fortriversbc@amherstma.gov
The Fort River School Building Committee is pleased to announce that it has chosen TSKP Studio
as designers for the feasibility study at the Fort River Elementary School. The decision came
after an evaluation working group reviewed proposals submitted, interviewed candidates, and
checked references.
The evaluators unanimously favored TSKP for its strong proposal and presentation, leading
green design record that includes net zero buildings, breadth of work and favorable references.
TSKP has a great deal of experience with school building design, working both within the
Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) program and independently with towns in
Massachusetts and Connecticut. The firm is also equally enthusiastic and experienced in both
renovation and new construction.
The committee met for the first time with representatives from TSKP on July 16th. Over the
next several months, the committee will work with TSKP and the Amherst School District to
evaluate the Fort River site and building and produce a range of options for a school building to
serve PreK-6 students attending the Fort River Elementary School. Community meetings will be
scheduled over the upcoming months and public input sought as plans develop.
The next meeting of the Fort River School Building Committee will take place on August 8th at
4:30pm in the Amherst Police Department Community Room. The public is welcome to attend
and can also contact the committee at fortriversbc@amherstma.gov.
