Dear Sixth Grade Families,
Are you counting down yet? It’s hard to believe that graduation is a little more than a month away!
We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes, and now we’ll be moving fast and furiously to get everything in place. We would like every family to be involved, so we’re writing now to let you know what’s coming up.
1. Save the date! Graduation is Friday, June 17, 2011 at 1:30 pm in the Ft. River gymnasium. A mailed invitation will be coming shortly. Also, the kids will be going to Camp Howe that same week: June 13, 14, and 15. The teachers will be sending home additional information.
2. Slide Show: Catalina Arrubula is looking for photos of students that are “close up, focused, and meaningful” – and from this year only. Please e-mail any photos or questions to Catalina as soon as possible carrubla@gmail.com
3. Class Gift: Traditionally, the sixth grade families present the school with a gift that benefits students in all grades. We collected ideas from the teachers and are considering a new art display case for the front hallway (Teri Magner says she asks every year) or a portable electric keyboard for the music department (currently, when Ann White wants to use a piano outside of the music room, she brings a keyboard from home.) We will make a final decision based on how much money we raise. How to contribute: Jen Vanderleeden is collecting money – small and large amounts are welcome! (Checks made out to FR PGO.) You can send an envelope with Jen’s name on it to your child’s teacher and Jen will get it from him/her. OR you can mail to Jen at 73 Curtis Place, Amherst, MA 01002. jderleeden@hotmail.com.
4. Food/Decorations: All families will be asked to contribute a food item for the reception that follows the graduation ceremony. Lisa Harvey and/or David Arnold harvarnold@gmail.com will be sending further information at the beginning of June.
