New Family Welcome
The week
before school starts, this volunteer organizes an event to welcome new families
to Fort River.
Welcome Back Staff Breakfast
The day before school starts, we treat the teachers and staff to a delicious breakfast. The coordinator organizes either a parent-donated food drive or picks up pastries, etc from local businesses.
Welcome Back Coffees
On both the first day of school for grades 1-6 and then again after Labor Day for the Kindergarten families, the PGO invites parents for coffee and donuts.

School Pictures
The
coordinator works with the office to arrange the schedule with teachers, get
order forms home with students, organize parent volunteers, and follow up with
picture package distribution.
Science Night
This is a
special night that looks a little different every year depending on the subject
and guest scientist giving the presentation.
Around the World - Cultural Heritage
Fair
Held in the fall, this evening event features an international potluck and performances by
members and friends of the Fort River community.
Chili Night
Held in the winter, Chili Night has easily become one of the best Fort River events that brings our school community together.
Talent Showcase
Held in the spring, this wonderful event highlights the special talents of our Fort River students. Committee members always wanted!

6th Grade Graduation
This
committee is in charge of ensuring graduation is a special day for the 6th
graders. Coordinators of this event oversee the different committees for the
graduation festivities.
Staff/Teacher
Appreciation Luncheon
A great
way to thank all the people who educate our kids, this committee finds a venue
and manages all aspects of this event (dates, budget, fundraising, menu,
invitations, decorations, etc).
Field Day
This
annual event takes place in June and involves the entire school. Coordinators
work with PE teachers to plan lots of fun activities for all grades. Volunteers
help plan, set up, and run the various stations and clean up at the end of the
day.
Bus/Van Driver
Appreciation Breakfast
We say
“thank you” to the people who transport our kids to and from school safely each
day. This coordinator coordinates food donations, greets drivers, and cleans up! This event takes place in late May/early June.

This parent keeps the individual classroom parents up to date with current events and facilitates communication between class parents, the PGO, and the school staff.
Student Directory
The
student directory is a valuable resource! This committee compiles student data and arranges for the
directory to be copied and distributed at school.
Curriculum
Enrichment Mini-Grants
Similar
to that used by ARHS and ARMS, this program supports teachers through
mini-grants to provide funding for materials and activities that enrich the
classroom curriculum.
Annual Fund
This
committee is charged with implementing the PGO's Annual Fund to support PGO sponsored activities and efforts throughout the year.
Savings Makes
“Cents”
This
program encourages savings habits and goal setting. Children can open a bank
account with Florence Savings Bank and bank weekly in the school lobby with
help from parent volunteers. Only $1.00 is needed to open an account and any

Yearbook
This
group works to coordinate student photographs, layout, printing, and
distribution of the yearbook. Parent photographers are needed in each grade to
help gather pictures throughout the year. Student participation is encouraged.
Coffee With A
Principal
A morning
coffee with the principal and/or assistant principal occurs on a Friday morning every one to two months. This job entails making or purchasing coffee, providing light snacks, and handling set-up and cleanup. Expenses are reimbursed per the budget.
BoxTops for
Education
Fort
River participates in the BoxTops program as one of the PGO fundraisers. The
collection box can be found in the main office. The coordinator collects the
BoxTops, and then counts/bundles/mails them twice a year. Easy cash for our school!
Lost and Found
Twice a
year the contents of the Lost and Found are placed on tables in the lobby to be
retrieved by kids/parents. Remaining
items are donated to the Survival Center.
