A big shout out to all of Fort River's talented and brave students for entertaining us on Friday evening! There was such a wide variety of acts -- from push-ups with knock knock jokes to martial arts to vocals/instruments to dance and gymnastics! Fort River definitely is talented!!

The 5th and 6th grades also would like to thank you for getting them closer to their Field Trip fundraising goals.

We'd also like to throw out an enormous THANK YOU to organizer extraordinaire, Shilpa Cunniffe, for making this event happen. Additional thanks to Fort River alum, Meena Cunniffe, and to parents Anne Martineau, Artie McCollum and Lisa Solowiej.

AEF looking for Board Members

AMHERST EDUCATION FOUNDATION IS SEEKING NEW BOARD MEMBERS!

AEF gives approximately $30,000 in grants to our public schools every year. We are seeking Board members who are dedicated to our mission of supporting our regional public schools in providing a challenging and enriching educational experience that maximizes the learning potential of every student and prepares them to succeed in the 21 st century.

AEF’s all volunteer Board of Directors accomplishes this by:
  • Providing financial support to educators and administrators by funding grants that benefit the students in our schools
  • Fundraising throughout the community
  • Holding community events, including the Trivia Bee and a Spring Party
  • Educating the community about issues integral to public education
This is where you come in! AEF is run by a volunteer Board that meets monthly during the
school year. Board members volunteer for projects and work independently throughout the
month at their convenience.

Fresh Air Fund - looking for families to host children in the summer

For a moment, think about the summertime.  What excites you?  What are your favorite childhood  memories?  For me, it is catching fire flies, going swimming in the neighbors’ pool, and riding my bike. Opportunities such as these look very different for children who live in the city.  Positive experiences shape our self esteem, confidence, independence and best of all become memories and possible friendships that last a lifetime.

Volunteer host families open their hearts and homes to children who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a summer away from New York City, and often say they receive more from the program than they give. With your help, we hope to send more Fresh Air children to the Pioneer Valley on a free, enriching summer experience!

For more information, visit http://www.freshair.org or contact Samantha Burns (sburnsie@comcast.net or 413-575-7680).
